LA JOLLA, Calif. - A season-high hitting percentage led the UC San Diego women's volleyball team to its fourth straight victory Saturday, a 3-0 blanking of league opponent Stanislaus State at RIMAC Arena. Scores were 25-13, 25-22 and 25-16.
The win moved UCSD to 13-9 overall and 9-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). With six regular season matches remaining, the Tritons sit in a tie for third place with Cal Poly Pomona.
UC San Diego posted a .369 hitting percentage with 45 kills and just seven errors in 103 attacks. It was the team's best offensive output since hitting .395 (38-6-81) at Humboldt State in 2012.
The Tritons opened strong Saturday, swinging at .429 (15-3-28) in the first set. They dropped to .294 (13-3-34) in the second frame, but improved to .390 (17-1-41) in the third.
Meagan Wright (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) paced UCSD with 18.0 points on 13 kills, four service aces and two block assists. She earned her fourth double-double in as many matches by adding 11 digs and hit .400 (13-1-30) on the night.
Danielle Dahle (La Mesa/Grossmont HS), who became UC San Diego's all-time kills leader Friday, finished with 12 kills and 11 digs. She hit .478 (12-1-23)
Rebecca Seaberry had five blocks (one solo) and Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) totaled 10 digs for the Tritons.
The Warriors, who hit .154 (34-18-104) were led by Blair Ehrlich's 13 kills and Maddi Seidl's 13 digs.
UC San Diego out-blocked Stanislaus State 8-1. The four-match win streak is the longest of the year for the Tritons.
The Warriors, which lost their third consecutive match, fell to 12-8 and 6-8.
Currently in the middle of a four-match home stand, UCSD hosts Cal Poly Pomona (13-9, 9-5) on Oct. 30 and Cal State Monterey Bay (5-14, 4-10) on Oct. 31. Both contests are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve at RIMAC Arena. The match against CSUMB will be Senior Night.
