SEASIDE, Calif. - Danielle Dahle (La Mesa/Grossmont HS) and Meagan Wright (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) combined for 31 kills to lead the UC San Diego women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over conference opponent Cal State Monterey Bay Thursday at The Kelp Bed.
Scores were 21-25, 25-12, 25-18 and 25-17. The win moved UCSD to 10-9 overall and 6-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Suffering its fourth-straight loss, CSUMB fell to 4-12 and 3-8. The Otters had a three-match home win streak snapped.
"Tonight was a great win for us on the road," said UCSD head coach Ricci Luyties. "We showed a lot of resilience winning three-straight sets after dropping the first."
Dahle hit .368 with 15 kills and two errors in 37 attacks. She added seven digs, two assists and two aces.
Wright collected her 11th double-double with 15 kills and 17 digs.
Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) led the Tritons with 19 digs and also had a pair of aces. Alyssa McNeely hit .667 (8-0-12) and had three digs, three blocks, one assist and an ace. Kameron Cooper totaled nine kills and setter Heidi Sierks got her team-leading 13th double-double with 46 assists and 10 digs. Rebecca Seaberry swung at .538, putting away seven kills and making no errors in 12 attacks.
For the sixth time this season, UCSD hit over .300 as a team, finishing at .331 with 57 kils and 14 errors in 130 attempts. The Tritons hit .455 (17-2-33) in the fourth set.
The Otters got 14 kills from Jessica Malcolm and Rachel Cookus had a match-high 25 digs.
CSUMB hit .448 (15-2-29) in the first set, but ended the night at .173 (44-20-139).
UCSD returns to Southern California to play at Cal Poly Pomona Sunday (5 p.m.). The Broncos defeated the Tritons in five sets at RIMAC Arena on Oct. 6.
