LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 17th-ranked UC San Diego women's tennis team suffered a 5-3 loss against No. 27 Azusa Pacific at Northview Courts Friday afternoon.
UCSD (1-2) won two of five singles match-ups and one of three doubles tilts to fall short to APU (2-0).
The Triton twosome of freshmen Nava Nowamooz and Shannon Theisen claimed UCSD's win at No. 2 doubles against the Cougar pairing of Kim Koetterheinrich and Lindsey Yeom with a score of 8-4.
Nowamooz later won her match at No. 4 singles against Koetterheinrich, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2. Paula Chou took down Danae Ingwaldson with a score of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
The Tritons host No. 36 Point Loma on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m.
