LA JOLLA, Calif - No. 6 UC San Diego men's water polo player Josh Stiling has been named an October Star of the Month by the San Diego Hall of Champions. The announcement was made Monday.

Stiling is the Tritons' top scorer with 55 goals so far this season, 25 of which came in October.  The senior also cracked UCSD's top-10 all-time goals list this month. He currently sits in a tie for ninth place with 171. In addition to 25 goals, Stiling recorded 10 assists, 22 steals, 14 ejections drawn and two penalties drawn this month.

Stiling's two best performances this month both came on the final day of the SoCal Tournament. The first came against No. 6 UC Santa Barbara, where Stiling scored two goals, one assist, two steals, one penalty drawn and three ejections drawn as the Tritons upset the Gauchos, 9-4. Later that afternoon, Stiling recorded five goals, two assists, three steals and two ejections drawn in a close 11-10 loss to No. 5 Long Beach State.

The Tritons posted an impressive 7-2 record in the month of October to moved them to 12-8 overall for the season. UCSD also secured four conference wins in October and went on to finish undefeated in Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) play.

The San Diego Hall of Champions honors outstanding athletes from San Diego, as well as athletes who have achieved stardom for local teams.
