Tritons Roll Past Cal State Stanislaus in Three

TURLOCK, Calif. - Danielle Dahle (La Mesa/Grossmont HS) led all players with 12 kills as the UC San Diego women's volleyball team rolled past Cal State Stanislaus in three sets at Fitzpatrick Arena Saturday night.

Scores of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match went 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18. UCSD is now 11-6 on the year and 9-4 in conference matches. CSUS is 2-15 and 2-11 after losing for the eighth time in its last nine outings.

For the second straight night, the Tritons stumped their opponent at the net, out-blocking the Warriors 9-3. Friday, UCSD had a season-high 18 blocks at Chico State. Stanislaus was held to just a .111 (31-18-117) attack percentage.

UC San Diego attacked at .211 with 43 kills and 17 errors in 123 attempts. It also held a 10-dig advantage, 63-53.

Dahle hit .357 and had four assists and seven digs to go along with her 12 kills. Caitlin Brenton totaled 11.5 points on eight kills, two aces and three block assists, while Alyssa McNeely had six blocks. Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) and Bailey Turk each had 14 digs.

The Warriors were led by Blair Ehrlich's eight kills and Sarah Crowl's match-high 18 digs.

UC San Diego never trailed in sets one and three.

"We blocked well again tonight," said UCSD head coach Ricci Luyties. "The difference from our last match was that we kept our unforced errors down. It was a solid CCAA win on the road."

The win gave UCSD the regular season sweep over CSUS as it took a 3-1 victory in September at RIMAC Arena. The last time Stanislaus topped UCSD was in 2010.

The Tritons have won three of their last four matches via sweep.

UCSD is on the road for another week as it plays at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 24 and Cal State L.A. on Oct. 25. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. first serves.
