LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego women's tennis team swept Villanova 9-0 on Friday afternoon at Northview Tennis Courts.
The Tritons won five of their six singles matches in straight sets. Melissa Breisacher was the lone UCSD player to go three sets, defeating Amanda Nelson, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. Samantha Yeung won her match in the No. 4 slot, 6-0, 6-0, over Emily Erda.
Taskeen Bains overtook her singles opponent, Mikelle Mancini, 6-2, 6-2, and then paired with Haley Perrotte to take down Mancini and Kristin Gobberg, 8-4, in doubles. The No. 2 duo of Cindy Dao and Jacquelyn Davis took down Urda and Allison Solberg, 8-4, as well.
"Today was good practice for a much more difficult match on Sunday against Rollins," said UCSD head coach Liz LaPlante.
UCSD faces Florida's Rollins College on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Northview Tennis Courts.
