DECORATE YOUR OWN SWIM CAP, WIN FREE CHICK-FIL-A FOR A YEAR
Come to the match on Friday evening for your chance to win FREE CHICK-FIL-A FOR A YEAR! It's "Design Your Own Swim Cap Night" at Canyonview Pool. The UCSD Athletic Department will be passing out 500 free swim caps and providing materials for fans to decorate their own. The fan who comes up with the most creative design will win free Chick-fil-A for a year. Now that's a tasty swim cap!

GAUCHO IN THE POOL
UCSB will come to Canyonview on Friday night fresh-off a heartbreaking loss at No.1 Stanford on Sunday. The Gauchos led 4-2 at halftime and then took a 5-4 lead with 2:03 remaining in the game. However, Stanford scored on the next possession and the Cardinal's Jacob Smith scored with five seconds remaining to help Stanford escape with a 6-5 win. UCSB provided UCSD with the team's only loss at the Socal Tournament on October 1 in Long Beach. Graham Saber scored four goals and Luke Syka added two scores, but UCSB scored on seven of nine man-advantages to take a relatively easy 15-9 victory. The Tritons rebounded with three consecutive wins after their clash with the Gauchos to take ninth place at the tournament. Matt Gronow leads UCSB with 31 goals while Jesse Gillespie and Chase Racich are tied for second at 19 goals each.

HARPER'S THOUGHT
UCSD head coach Denny Harper commented on tonight's match:
"Anytime we play Santa Barbara is a challenge. Certainly we think we can do better than our last outing against them."

TRITONS GO TO OT AT BEACH
UCSD was less than 10 seconds away from taking down its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponent this season, but Long Beach State rallied for two late goals to take a 9-8 overtime win in non-conference play at Campus Pool on Wednesday afternoon.

Josh Stiling broke a 7-7 tie to give UCSD the lead by one with 3:34 remaining in the match. UCSD would hold that lead until the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter, when Nick Rascon scored out of a 49er timeout with seven seconds to play to force overtime. LBSU notched the game-winner a minute and half into the first overtime as the Tritons were unable to score in the extra period.

UCSD and LBSU combined for nine goals in the opening quarter; Brian Donohoe scored twice and David Higginson and Joe Dietrich added a goal, but LBSU took a 5-4 lead into the second period. Graham Saber evened the score at 5-5 with 3:26 remaining in the second, but the 49ers managed to sneak another in before halftime.

LBSU took a two-goal lead with 2:49 to play in the third quarter, but the Tritons managed to score three consecutive goals, capped off by Stiling's goal to give UCSD it's first lead of the game, 8-7, with just over three minutes to play. However, LBSU's two late goals spoiled what would have been quite a UCSD comeback.
