ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Freshman Will Olsem scored 21 points and Sterling Arterberry finished with 12 to guide Sonoma State to a 78-66 victory over visiting UC San Diego on Saturday night at Seawolf Gymnasium. The Seawolves closed the game on a 22-11 run to hand the Tritons their third loss in four games.
Jordan Lawley had another big game for UCSD (4-10, 3-8 CCAA), finishing with 28 points to lead all scorers. Lawley, who scored 18 of his 28 points in the first half, also finished with five rebounds and three assists in a game-high 36 minutes.
Lawley's performance wasn't enough though, as Sonoma State (5-12, 4-8 CCAA) shot 50% (22-44) for the game and hit a blistering 59% (10-17) of its shots in the decisive second half. Oslem was 6-of-11 from the field and drained 4-of-7 from downtown, while Arterberry converted 3-of-5 shots and grabbed three rebounds in just 16 minutes off the bench.

Justin Brue finished with seven points, six rebounds, and a pair of assists in a productive 16 minutes.
A jumper by Brue with 5:43 left to play cut the Seawolves' advantage to 56-55, but Oslem made two free throws on the other end and then hit a three-pointer to put the home team in front by six, 61-55.
Lawley scored to bring the Tritons to within 63-59 with 3:50 remaining, but Oslem answered once again, draining his fourth triple of the game and hitting two more free throws to give Sonoma an insurmountable 68-59 lead.
UCSD would get no closer than seven the rest of the way and SSU hit eight free throws in the final 1:12 to seal the victory.
Sonoma State held a commanding 23-6 advantage in points off turnovers and made 40 trips to the free throw line, converting 29, 72.5%. UCSD went 13-of-18 at the stripe, 72%.
The Seawolves led by as many as nine points in the first half but the Tritons rallied to tie the game at 40 following a jumper from
Christian Hatch with two minutes into the second period.
While Sonoma State pulled away late in the second half, the game was tightly contested for nearly 35 minutes and featured 11 ties and eight lead changes.
The Tritons, who went 2-2 on a four-game homestand from January 7-16, will now come home for four straight over the next two weeks. UCSD will open the stretch against Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., before welcoming Cal State San Bernardino to town on Saturday.
