WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ? Valerie Tang of the UC San Diego women's tennis team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6, the conference office announced Monday. It is the fifth time this season a player from the UCSD roster has earned the honor.

Tang, a freshman out of Saratoga, Calif., posted a 6-0 overall record in three matches will playing both singles and doubles. She won two matches at No. 6 singles and one at No. 3 and teamed with Kimmi Dao to collect three wins at No. 2 doubles.

During the span, the Tritons went 2-1, knocking off Sonoma State and Cal State San Bernardino and dropping a 5-4 decision to No. 17 Hawaii Pacific on Sunday.

UCSD will continue its CCAA sleight with a home match starting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 against Cal Poly Pomona.
