POMONA, Calif. ? The 3rd-ranked UC San Diego women's soccer team eked out another slim California Collegiate Athletic Association victory, this time defeating Cal Poly Pomona by a 2-1 margin on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Tritons remain perfect at 5-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in league play while dropping the Broncos to 4-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference action.

UCSD senior Alie Avina put the Tritons ahead when she scored with just nine seconds remaining in the first half on a corner kick from freshman Remy Hitt. The Tritons would get the eventual game-winner from Natasha Belak-Berger at the 62:53 mark from fellow junior Ali Lai. The goal was Belak-Berger's fifth of the year, having scored one in each of the team's first five matches. She has also accounted for four of the team's five game-winning goals.

Junior netminder Jessica McGovern made two saves on the day in picking up the decision and improving to 5-0-0 on the season. She now has a 25-2-2 career record between the pipes for UCSD.

The Broncos' Lindsey Zuber cored the team's only goal in the loss, taking a pass freshman Justine Barclay and scored in the 79th minute. Cal Poly Pomona would get no closer, however, as the Tritons improved to 13-0-2 in their last 15 matches against CCAA foes.

Head coach Brian McManus' squad will now return home to Triton Soccer Field for the next two matches, hosting CSU Monterey Bay on Friday evening at 4:30 p.m. before welcoming in San Francisco State on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
