SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ? The UC San Diego men's volleyball team dropped a 34-32, 30-17, 30-18 decision to Springfield College on Friday night at the Hall of Fame Classic in Springfield, Mass. UCSD played its best in the first game, losing by a slim 34-32 margin. The Tritons hit at .034 and -.031 in games two and three respectively, while the Pride hit at .300 in game two and a blistering .391 in game three. The Tritons will now face Rutgers-Newark in the consolation finals on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Springfield advances to the championship against Ball State.
In the first game, Springfield College jumped out to a quick start, leading 3-0 and 8-4. The Tritons went on a quick run to take a 17-14 advantage. The Pride then regained the lead at 19-18. The teams would continue to tie each other late, with the last coming at 32-32. The Pride then scored the final two points to win the game.
The Pride outhit UCSD .300 to .034 to cruise to the game two win.
The Pride continued to fire, winning game three 30-18.
UCSD is back in action on Saturday night when it faces Rutgers-Newark at 6:00 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Classic consolation game in Springfield, Mass.
