Tritons Win Thriller, Defeat Cal State Stanislaus 116-103 in Four Overtimes

TURLOCK, Calif. ? The UC San Diego men's basketball team played its first-ever four overtime contest and came away with a hard fought 116-103 victory over host Cal State Stanislaus on Friday night in Warrior Arena. With the win the Tritons improve to 7-10 overall and 5-7 in CCAA play while dropping the Warriors to 10-10 overall and 6-7 in league action.

Six UCSD players scored in double figures led by sophomore Kelvin Kim who scored a career-high 23 points while playing a program-high 55 minutes. He surpasses the previous record of 50 that was set by Bob Goodman against Nebraska-Wesleyan on January 8, 1982.

Freshman Jordan Lawley added a career-high 21 while junior Clint Allard added 15. Sophomore Henry Patterson scored 14 while senior Robby Peters and sophomore Alan Husted added 11 in the victory. Husted's biggest points came with four seconds to go in the third overtime as he drained a 3-pointer to tie the contest and send it into the fourth overtime period.

Cameron Quick led the Warriors in scoring on the night, pouring in a game-high 38 points that included a 24-for-31 performance from the free throw line on the night. Dominique Pennix was the only other CSUS player to scored in double digits, adding 13 points that included a 3-for-8 performance from long range.

As a team the Tritons made 33 of 71 shots from the floor and 44 of 61 free throws while the Warriors made only 27 of 68 field goal attempts while going 43 of 59 from the charity stripe.

The last time that UCSD scored at least 100 points was in the 119-112 loss at the University of Redlands on November 29, 2003. The last time that the Tritons scored at least 100 points in a victory was in the 114-74 victory over UC Santa Cruz on January 22, 1999.

UCSD sweeps the season series with the Warriors with the victory. The Tritons posted a 76-72 win at home over CSUS earlier this season on December 1.

Head coach Bill Carr's squad returns to action on Saturday night, playing at Chico State at 7:30 p.m. The Tritons will be looking to avenge a 74-67 loss to the Wildcats that happened at home earlier this season on December 1.
