LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The UC San Diego baseball team completed a four-game sweep against Regis, defeating the Rangers 13-7 on Sunday afternoon at Triton Baseball Field.  John Roth, Chris Hom and David Morehead all homered as UCSD improves to 8-4 on the season.  Roth, Garrett Imeson, Scott Clement and Tim Mort all had multi-hit games.  Daniel Simmons earned the win, pitching six innings, allowing three runs and striking out six.  The Tritons scored six times in the fifth and four more in the eighth.  UCSD is back in action for its CCAA opener when it travels to Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 22.  First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.

In the UCSD first, Roth led off and was hit.  With two outs, Scott Clement tripled to right center, driving in Roth for the 1-0 lead.

With two outs in the Regis second, Jordan Bruns singled, drving in Brad Schumacher to tie the game 1-1.

The teams would remain scoreless until Jonathan Erickson reached on an error in the fifth.  Chris Hom then homered to left field, putting UCSD ahead 3-1.  Roth doubled to left center and stole third.  Garrett Imeson then doubled down the leftfield line, scoring Roth, 4-1 UCSD.  Lawson walked and Clement reached on an error, loading the bases.  With two outs, Franco drew a walk for an RBI, 5-1 UCSD.  Tim Mort then singled to center, good for two RBI and the Tritons led 7-1.

With one out in the sixth, Sean Chase hit a two-run homerun to left, bringing Regis within 7-3.

In the UCSD sixth, Imeson had a one-out RBI single.  Clement the singled, driving in Imeson as UCSD led 9-3.

Regis broke through in the eighth, scoring three runs at 9-6.  With the potential tying runs on base, Eric Abraham entered and retired the next two batters.

With one out in the Triton eighth, Roth homered to left to give UCSD a 10-6 lead.  With two gone, David Morehead homered to left for a three-run round-tripper, giving UCSD a 13-6 lead.

Regis added one in the ninth to round out the scoring.
