IRVINE, Calif. ? The 14th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team lost to 5th-ranked UC Irvine 18-6 on Wednesday night in Irvine. UCI's Tim Hutten scored nine goals to lead the Anteaters to the win. Steven Donohoe and Ben Miller scored two goals apiece to lead the Tritons. Daniel Garcia and Jeff Hunt also netted scores for UCSD. Mark Stemler recorded three saves while Adam Rule made two saves in goal for the Tritons. UCI led from the start, building a 9-3 lead at halftime. The loss drops UCSD to 10-15, while UC Irvine improves to 11-8. UCSD is back in action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Malibu to take on 6th-ranked Pepperdine. First sprint is set for 2:00 p.m.
The Tritons will play their last match on Saturday before the Western Water Polo Association tournament on November 16-18 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
