COLORADO SPRINGS, Calif. ? The 14th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team nearly came back from an early deficit but fell to 16th-ranked Air Force 11-10 in the first-round of the Western Water Polo Association Tournament in Colorado Springs. The Tritons trailed 8-4 at halftime and rallied to tie the game at 10-10 with just :47 left. Air Force would score on its next possession to capture the win. UCSD was led by Chance Vermilyea and Daniel Garcia with three goals apiece. Jeff Hunt added two scores for the Tritons and Curtis Williamson and Steven Donohoe also added goals. The loss drops UCSD to 10-17.
The Tritons will take on the loser between UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz.
