LOS ANGELES, Calif. ? The 14th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team lost to Western Water Polo Association rival 10th-ranked Loyola Marymount 9-4 on Saturday afternoon on the LMU campus.  The Tritons scored first on a goal by Chance Vermilyea and were tied up after the first quarter.  UCSD trailed 3-2 at halftime, before LMU outscored the Tritons 6-2 in the second half to pull away with the win.  Also scoring goals in the game for UCSD was Ian Bausback and Simon Schafer.  UCSD is back in action on Saturday, November 3 when it takes on UCLA at Canyonview Pool.  The Tritons will honor its three seniors Ben Miller, Simon Schafer and Curtis Williamson shortly before first sprint.

Vermilyea scored to open the game with 4:30 left to lead 1-0.  LMU tied the game 1-1 with 1:47 left as the teams were tied 1-1.

LMU scored the first two goals of the second quarter to take a 3-1 edge before Daniel Garcia scored a goal to pull UCSD within 3-2 with 3:53 remaining.  The teams would remain scoreless for the rest of the quarter.

LMU shutout UCSD 3-0 in the third quarter and pulled away in the fourth.  Bausback and Schafer added scores in the fourth for the Tritons.
