LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The 20th-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team swept Cal State Stanislaus 30-24, 30-16, 30-25 on Friday night in RIMAC Arena. The win was UCSD's 10th-straight victory against the Warriors and sixth win in its last seven matches. In the Tritons' 14 wins this year, 11 have come in three-game sweeps. Amber Ries was the only athlete in double-figures in kills for the night, sending down 13 kills on .333 hitting. Casey Wilson and Rebecca Bailey recorded seven kills apiece. Kim Adams had a team-high 21 assists and Natalie Facchini led UCSD with 23 digs. The Tritons served up 16 aces, led by Bailey's five. With the win, the Tritons improve to 14-6, 8-4 CCAA while the Warriors drop to 5-18, 1-11 CCAA.
In the first game, CSUS recorded more kills than UCSD, a 14-13 edge, but it was the Tritons who put together a late run to take the game. CSUS led 19-18, before the Tritons scored six straight to lead 25-19. The Tritons closed the game out on a Wilson kill 30-24.
The Tritons owned game two, hitting .308 and the Warriors hitting a -.304. CSUS managed two kills in the game, while UCSD sent down 14. The Tritons scored six of the first seven points and cruised to a 20-11 lead. The Tritons were never threatened and took the game 30-16.
Game three began much like game two with UCSD storming out to a 20-10 lead. CSUS made a game of it, coming within three points at 26-23. Amber Ries recorded UCSD's last three kills of the game and put away the match at 30-25.
UCSD is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts No. 19 Chico State at 7:00 p.m. in RIMAC Arena. Earlier this season, the Wildcats defeated the Tritons in four games in Chico.
