STANFORD, Calif. ? The 5th ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team defeated 9th-ranked Pacific 12-11 as Curtis Williamson scored the winning goal with 1:30 to play to lift the Tritons. In the 5th-place game, UCSD won a back-and-forth battle against No. 7 Loyola Marymount 9-8. Daniel Garcia scored three times for the Tritons. UCSD is back in action on Friday, September 22 when it hosts a rematch with WWPA rival LMU at 6:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool.
In the win over Pacific, Ty Lackey scored four times while Jesse Casellini added three goals. Adnan Jerkovic scored twice while A.J. Kotanjian, Steven Donohoe and Williamson added single goals. Jeremy Randall made six saves in goal.
The Tritons faced LMU in the second game and it was back-and-forth until the Tritons pulled out the game 9-8 in a match-up of WWPA rivals. Daniel Garcia scored three times for UCSD in the win.
