REDLANDS, Calif. ? The 5th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team finished the Inland Empire Tournament with a 4-0 record as the Tritons defeated Whittier 15-5 and 15th-ranked Redlands 9-5 on Sunday afternoon. UCSD improves to 8-0, winning its second consecutive tournament after capturing the Triton Invitational last weekend. Over the two days at the Inland Empire, UCSD outscored its opponents 57-18. UCSD is back in action on Friday, Sept. 15 at No. 4 Stanford. The Tritons will then participate in the Northern California Tournament on Sept. 16-17, also at Stanford.
In the win over Whittier, A.J. Kotanjian scored three times while Ty Lackey also scored three. Ben Miller, Mike Lee and Sid Menon all scored twice in the 15-5 win.
Against Redlands, Lackey continued his scoring with three more goals and Jesse Casellini also added three.
For the tournament, Lackey tallied 13 goals.
