LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The 17th-ranked UC San Diego women's tennis team remained perfect in CCAA play with an easy 9-0 victory over visiting Cal State L.A. on Saturday at the Northview Tennis Courts on the UCSD Campus.
With the win the Tritons improve to 9-6 overall and 7-0 in CCAA action while the Golden Eagles fall to 5-7 overall and 2-7 in league play.
UCSD captured two of the three doubles matches by scores of 8-4 while Katie McKee and Kristin Bronowicki won their match at the No. 1 spot by an 8-3 score over Rona Miller and Isis Jackson of Cal State L.A.
In singles play, the Tritons won five of the six matches in straight-sets, including a 6-0, 6-1 win for Allison Legakis at the No. 5 spot on the ladder. Tessa Tran also notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Molly Sullens was forced to play three sets in her victory, defeating Jennifer Avila by scores of 4-6, 6-3 and 10-8.
Head coach Liz LaPlante and her squad returns to action with three matches next week. The Tritons will play at Vanguard on Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. before returning home for a Friday afternoon match with Cal State Bakersfield at 2 p.m. on the Northview Tennis Courts. UCSD will conclude the week with a 11 a.m. match on Saturday at Cal Poly Pomona.
