Tritons Complete Season Sweep of Chico State, Win 70-56 on the Road

CHICO, Calif. ? The UC San Diego men's basketball team completed the season sweep of Chico State with a 70-56 win on Friday night in Acker Gymnasium on the CSUC campus. The Tritons handed the Wildcats a 61-41 loss in RIMAC Arena earlier this season on January 7.

With the win the Tritons improve to 10-12 on the year and 7-6 in CCAA play while Chico State falls to 6-14 overall and 5-8 in league action.

Junior Robby Peters led all scorers on the night with his career-high 27 points that came by way of 8-for-11 shooting from long range. Sophomore Clint Allard chipped in with 13 while freshman Darryl Lawlor added 10 in the win.

As a team the Tritons shot 53.2% from the floor, including an 11-for-21 night from behind the 3-point arc. UCSD limited Chico State to an 18-for-38 night from the field and forced 21 CSUC turnovers.

Andy Bocian led the Wildcats with 17 points in the loss while Justin Argenal added nine points and seven assists.

UCSD needs only one more win to equal last year's win total of 11, which were the most wins by any Triton team at the Division II level.

Head coach Bill Carr and his squad returns to action on Saturday evening, playing at Cal State Stanislaus at 7:30 p.m. in Warrior Gym.
