SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. ? The UC San Diego men's basketball team outscored San Francisco State by a 48-31 margin in the second half to pull out a 65-56 victory on Saturday Night in Main Gym on the SFSU campus.
With the win the Tritons improve to 8-10 overall and 5-5 in CCAA play while the Gators fall to 0-16 overall and 0-10 in league action. The win was UCSD's fourth in its last five contests.
The Tritons made only 31.6% of their first half shots to trail at halftime by a 25-17 margin. However, UCSD made 14-of-27 shots from the floor and 17-of-20 from the free throw line to rally for the 9-point win.
Sophomore Clint Allard led the UCSD offense with 16 points of the night while freshmen Darryl Lawlor and Henry Patterson shipped in with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Jevon Doss and Will Logan paced SFSU offensively with 12 points apiece in the loss. Logan also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
The Tritons return to action on Tuesday night at Chapman University. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on the Chapman University campus in Orange, Calif.
UCSD returns home next weekend, hosting Cal State L.A. on Friday night and Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday evening. Both games are slated for 7:30 p.m. starts with friday night's contest with the Golden Eagles taking place on Spirit Night, the culmination of a week-long spirit rally on the UCSD campus.
