UCSD Wins Going Away, Defeats Cal State Dominguez Hills 79-46

LA JOLLA, Calif. ? Freshman Henry Patterson scored 19 points to lead the UC San Diego men's basketball team to a 79-46 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night in RIMAC Arena. With the win the Tritons improve to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the CCAA while the Toros fall to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in league play.

UCSD never trailed in the contest and held a 47-24 advantage at intermission. That lead never dipped below 20 as the Tritons went on a 19-8 run over the final 10, expanding its lead up to 33 at the final buzzer, which was the largest advantage of the contest.

Patterson scored his 19 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the floor while also grabbing a game-high six rebounds, dishing out four assists and making five steals. Robby Peters and Odioh Odiye each added 15 points while Andrew Hatch chipped in with 12 points and seven assists.

Offensively, UCSD made 31-of-53 shots from the floor, including 10-for-22 from behind the 3-point arc. Defensively, the Tritons held CSUDH to a .415 shooting clip from the floor, including a 0-for-7 performance from long range.

Trevon Bryant scored a team-high 15 points in the loss for the Toros. Shamont Brown added eight points and six rebounds, but he and teammate Carlos Rivers combined for 12 of the team's 21 turnovers.

The 33-point win is the largest margin of victory for the Tritons in its CCAA history eclipsing the 20-point win over Chico State earlier this season. The previous record was a 19-point win at home against San Francisco State in December of 2000, the Tritons first year in the league.

UCSD returns to action on Saturday night, hosting Cal Poly Pomona at 7:30 p.m. in RIMAC Arena.
