UCSD Loses to No. 14 Pacific 3-1

STOCKTON, Calif. -  The UC San Diego men's volleyball team lost in four games to No. 14 Pacific 30-19, 30-25, 28-30, 30-25 on Friday night.  The loss dropped UCSD to 0-5, 0-3 MPSF, while the Tigers improved to 2-4, 1-2 MPSF.  Jon Daze and Chris Sayers send down 16 kills apiece while Garret Smith also reached double-digits with 12 kills and a .364 hitting percentage.  Brooks Dierdorff had 53 assists while Mike Reuter had 10 digs.  Pacific was led by Andreas Baboulidis with 14 kills.

The Tigers jumped to a lead in the first game, running up a 13-4 lead early on as they cruised to a 30-19 victory. In game two the Tigers again got out to a quick lead and held off the Tritons, winning 30-25. While Pacific looked to close out the night in three straight games the Tritons had other ideas, battling the Tigers hard throughout the third set and barely holding on after Pacific came back from six down to tie the game at 28. From there UC San Diego collected two points to finish off the game at 30-28. The Tigers finally put things away in the fourth set, taking the win 30-25.

UC San Diego returns home to take on No. 3 Pepperdine on Friday, January 27 and No. 13 Southern California on Saturday, January 28.  First serve for both matches is 7:00 p.m. in RIMAC Arena.
