SEASIDE, Calif. ? The UC San Diego men's basketball team picked up its first-ever win over Cal State Monterey Bay with a narrow 67-62 win on Saturday night in The Kelp Bed.  UCSD lost both of its previous meetings with CSUMB as the Otters swept the season series last year.

With the win the Tritons improve to 5-9 on the year and 2-4 in CCAA play while the Otters fall to 6-10 overall and 3-3 in league action.

Robby Peters led the UCSD offense with 16 points on the night, 12 of which came on 3-pointers. Clint Allard added 13 while Darryl Lawlor chipped in with 10.

Devoughn Lamont led CSUMB with 13 points while Jay Demaestri scored 12 while pulling down a game-high 19 rebounds.

UCSD made 9-of-21 shots from long range and committed a season-low five turnovers while limiting CSUMB to a meager 34.9% shooting mark from the floor.

Head coach Bill Carr and the Tritons return home next weekend to host Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal Poly Pomona on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. Both games are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. in RIMAC Arena.
