LEWISBURG, Penn. - The 7th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team cruised past Bucknell 15-7 to improve to 4-1 in 2005. UCSD scored the game's first four goals and never looked back. Ty Lackey, Adnan Jerkovic and Brandon Borso netted three goals apiece in the victory. Chris Eichholz scored twice while Chris Finegold, Kevin Smoker, Steven Jendrusina and Jesse Casellini also netted goals. The game was a tune-up for the Tritons as they will remain on the East Coast and play in the Princeton Invitational this weekend. UCSD will face two ranked opponents in 15th-ranked St. Francis and 10th-ranked Princeton.
Five different Tritons scored to open up the 5-1 lead early in the second quarter. Borso would score his second goal of the game in the second quarter and Jendrusina scored with :20 remaining in the half for the comfortable 7-1 lead at the break.
UCSD scored five more times in the third quarter. Jerkovic netted his second and third goals of the game while Borso, Finegold and Lackey ended the third period with UCSD ahead 12-4.
The teams scored three goals apiece in the final period. Eichhols, Casellini and Lackey scored as the Tritons won their first game away from Canyonview Pool.
UCSD is back in action at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J. The Tritons will play two matches on Saturday and two on Sunday. UCSD's first match-up is against Queens at 12:30 p.m.
