BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? The UC San Diego men's basketball team dropped a narrow 51-49 decision to Cal State Bakersfield on Friday evening in Rabobank Arena as Dwuan Rice hit a jumper with two seconds remaining in the game to give CSUB the win. The loss drops UCSD to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play while the Roadrunners improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in league play.

CSUB used a 16-7 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half to jump out to its largest lead of 12 points. From there UCSD began to chip away at the deficit, going on a 9-0 run of its own to trail by a 41-38 margin with just under seven minutes to go.

The Roadrunners took the lead twice more only to have the Tritons knot the score both times before the game-winning shot from Rice lifted CSUB to its narrow two-point league opening win.
