LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 5th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team defeated 8th-ranked Long Beach State 9-8 on Saturday night in Canyonview Pool.  Brandon Borso netted five goals for the Tritons, the last coming with 10 seconds left which proved to be the game-winner for the Tritons.  With the win, UCSD improves to 17-2 on the season.  The Tritons and 49ers met for the third consecutive weekend and went down to the wire in each of the three games.

Adnan Jerkovic scored twice while Chris Eichholz and Ty Lackey also scored for UCSD.  The Tritons defeated LBSU in the Southern California tournament on Sept. 18 11-10 in overtime.  Last weekend at the UCSC Slugfest, the Tritons came out on top 12-10 in another tight match-up.

UCSD is back in action on Friday, October 7 against Princeton.  The match will begin at 6:00 pm in Canyonview Pool.
