Jacqueline Scaramella

Jacque Scaramella is a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD). She is joining the Triton Performance Nutrition team to help support the performance nutrition needs of UC San Diego’s scholar-athletes.
 
Originally from Chicago and a former collegiate athlete, she moved to southern California to pursue her master’s degree in nutritional science from Long Beach State. During her time in California, she was part of the nutrition team supporting USA Volleyball’s and USA Water Polo’s senior national teams.

When she’s not on campus fueling and recovering Triton scholar-athletes, Scaramella continues to support the nutrition needs of summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic sports including, Rugby 7s, Archery, Para Ice Hockey, Sitting Volleyball, and Para Archery. She has supported Team USA athletes traveling domestically and internationally for training camps and competitions, most notably the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, and most recently the 2020 Summer Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan (both held in 2021).
 
Scaramella has authored a book chapter on nutrition for amputees in the 2nd edition of Sports Nutrition for Paralympic Athletes and co-authored several professional publications on nutrition for Para athletes. She is a Level 2 ISAK Anthropometrist, trained in international standards of body composition assessment.
