Alysa Velasquez joined the UC San Diego Department of Athletics in November 2024 as a Scholar-Athlete Academic Advisor.

Previously, Velasquez served as an academic advisor in the College of Sciences Student Success Center at San Diego State University. She also served as a lecturer at SDSU, teaching an introductory university seminar course in the College of Sciences. Prior to her three years at SDSU, Velasquez spent one year as an assistant academic advisor at the University of Central Florida.  She worked closely with the athletic program's women's basketball, women's rowing and women's soccer teams.

Velasquez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara in 2018 and completed a Master's Degree in Higher Education Counseling/Student Affairs at Cal Poly. While in graduate school, she served as a program co-coordinator in academic coaching and a graduate assistant in athletic academic advising at Cal Poly.
