Aysia Shellmire joined UC San Diego as a performance coach in 2025, working primarily with the women’s basketball team.
Shellmire joined the Tritons after a successful four-year tenure at the College of the Holy Cross, where she worked directly with the women’s basketball and women’s soccer programs. During her time with the Crusaders, she contributed to two NCAA March Madness appearances and multiple Patriot League titles.
Before her time at Holy Cross, Shellmire served as a performance coaching intern at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa during the summer training period.
Shellmire also spent time at Springfield College, completing graduate coursework and serving as an adjunct professor in the Exercise Science department. As a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach, she led training for the men’s volleyball team.
Earlier in her career, Shellmire was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Cate School in Carpinteria, Calif., where she provided coverage for all sports. She also taught multiple strength and conditioning courses at her alma mater, Westmont College, as an adjunct professor, over a two-year span.
As a standout student-athlete at Westmont, Shellmire earned NAIA and WBCA First Team All-American honors in 2017 and Second Team All-American honors in 2016.
Aysia is an active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), serving on both the Women’s Committee and the L.I.F.T. Committee. She holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from Westmont College and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. She also maintains certifications in Precision Nutrition and as a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC).
