Alexis Mezzetta

Former UCSD standout Alexis Mezzetta returns for her fourth season on the Triton coaching staff in 2011-12.

Mezzetta was promoted to her current position of top assistant prior to the 2010-11 campaign after serving as the second assistant under Elliott the previous two seasons. She is actively involved in all aspects of coaching, including scouting, player development and travel. She also oversees the program's recruiting and alumni relations.

Alongside Elliott and former assistant coach Hanna Howard, Mezzetta helped lead the Tritons to a 27-5 overall record in 2008-09, which tied the program's all-time mark for victories in a season. UCSD finished 19-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play that year, marking the Tritons' best finish since joining the conference in 2000-01.

Mezzetta has been on staff during one of the most successful stretches in program history, as UCSD has posted an overall record of 72-21 and won two CCAA Championships during her time with the team.

A three sport athlete at Justin-Siena High School in Napa, Mezzetta had a very successful playing career with the Tritons from 2004-08, helping guide UCSD to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the D-II Final Four in 2006-07. She posted career averages of 3.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in a total of 102 games and averaged 5.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and a team-high 4.5 assists as a senior.

Mezzetta finished her career ranked in the top 10 in several categories at UCSD. In terms of Division II records, she currently ranks second all-time in career assists with 247, ninth in career three-pointers made with 54 and 10th in career games played with 102. During her four years with the program, the Tritons recorded an overall record of 92-30.

A native of Sonoma, Calif., Mezzetta graduated from UCSD in 2008 with a degree in Biology. She went on to earn her Master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine in 2009.
