Alexandria Young is entering her third season with the Tritons as an assistant coach in 2025-26, after joining the staff in June 2023.
In 2024-25, Young helped the Tritons to a historic run in the Big West Championship, earning the program's first NCAA Division I Tournament berth. UC San Diego became the first school in history to have both its men's and women's basketball teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament in their first season of eligibility.
Prior to UC San Diego, Young spent three seasons with the Gonzaga women’s basketball program as the Director of Basketball Operations, joining the team in October 2020. As the Director of Basketball Operations, Young oversaw all day-to-day operations within the basketball office, coordinating travel, recruiting, marketing, summer camps, and supervising graduate and undergraduate assistants.
Prior to her tenure at Gonzaga, Young worked as the Graduate Assistant for Fresno State women’s basketball where she served as the assistant to the recruiting coordinator. She was also responsible for organizing team travel, outreach programs, equipment and video exchange. In addition, Young was tasked with creating graphics and videos for social media and recruiting.
Young attended the University of San Diego, where she was a five-year member of the women’s basketball team. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies with a minor in visual arts in 2018 and secured her master’s degree in sports administration from Fresno State in May of 2020.
