AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006: Finished 5000m run in 16:16.53 during Triton Invitational held on UCSD campus... also a member of the UCSD men’s cross country team.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005: Achieved season best performance in the 3000m steeplechase during the Pomona-Pitzer meet of 10:04.34.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2004 graduate of Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, Calif... ran cross country and track for coaches Peter Brewer and Dino Cardiosmenos... team finished second in the North County Section in 2001, before eventually finishing 10th at the CIF Championships... was an All-NCS Third Team selection and an All-Hayward Area Athletic Team member... set personal bests of 16:25 in the 5k, 16:01 in the three mile, 10:05 in the 3200m, 4:29 in the 1600m and 2:01 in the 800m... was a member of the Boy Scouts and an active church volunteer... earned high honors for academics while at Castro Valley HS.
PERSONAL: Born January 7, 1986 in Hayward, Calif... parents are Lawrence and Ellen Yano... has one older sister named Lisa... is an undeclared major at Warren College... enjoys running, school and going to church in his spare time.
