Biography
AS A JUNIOR IN 2007: Completed the 800 at the All-Cal Championships with a time of 1:57.65, good for 6th overall... finished 6th in the 1500 at the San Diego City Championships with a time of 4:13.11... crossed the finish line in 1:56.22 during the 800 at the UCSD Triton Invitational... posted a season-best time of 1:54.58 in the preliminaries of the 800 at the CCAA Championships, finishing 8th overall with a finals time of 1:55.39.
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006: Finished 6th in the 800m run at the CCAA Championships with a career-best 1:55.21, the second-best mark among Tritons. Finished 2nd in his section of the 1500m run during the Triton Invitational with a career-best time of 3:59.56, the second best mark among Tritons on the season. Also a member of the UCSD men’s cross country team.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005: Had the best Triton time during the season in the 800m run, finishing in 1:55.59.
HIGH SCHOOL: Came to UCSD from Huntington Beach High School... had personal bests of 1:57.82 in the 800m, 4:32 in the 1600m and 51.8 in the 400m... also ran track.
PERSONAL: Born July 12, 1985... parents are Jim and Jan Tamura. Sister Lyndly is a freshman pole vaulter for Tritons women’s team.
