Addy Royal was named an assistant coach with UC San Diego's track and field program prior to the 2019 season.
In 2020, Royal assisted seven Triton distance runners to multiple overall event wins throughout a shortened season. After four meets completed, the distance medley relays and 4x800 relays delivered first-place performances on the both the men’s and women’s side. Individual event winners include Samuel Blake in the 3000 (8:25.26) and Jake Selstad in the 800 (1:52.42).
Also an assistant with the Tritons' cross country program, Royal works with the distance and middle-distance student-athletes. She previously served as assistant coach at Southern Oregon University, helping with hosting meets, planning practices, transportation, lodging, equipment, budgeting and recruiting. In addition, she had a role in the development of 19 NAIA All-Americans and one national champion during her two seasons with the Raiders.
Royal earned her bachelor's degree at Sacramento State in 2016, majoring in communication studies with a concentration in digital media. She later received a master's in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership/Coaching at the University of Washington in the summer of 2018.
A former student-athlete at Sac State, Royal was part of four-consecutive Big Sky Conference track and field championships with the Hornets. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and earned Coca-Cola Scholars accolades.
