Megan Wachholtz enters her second season as an assistant coach with the UC San Diego softball program in 2027. Since joining the Tritons’ staff in September 2025, Wachholtz has supported the daily operations of the NCAA Division I program, including player development, practice planning, game preparation, position-specific defensive instruction, offensive development and recruiting efforts.

Wachholtz joined UC San Diego after spending more than four seasons as an assistant coach at Palomar College from 2021-25. With the Comets, she led defensive and baserunning instruction while assisting with offensive strategy and athlete development. She also supported program operations, team culture initiatives and student-athlete academic success.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Wachholtz has worked with 5 Tool Athletics in Carlsbad since 2021 as a softball instructor and head coach. In that role, she has developed recruiting-age athletes through private instruction, team coaching and competitive travel softball. She has also built strong relationships with athletes and families while fostering confidence, accountability and long-term athletic growth.

A former standout at Palomar College, Wachholtz earned 2019 NFCA All-American, First Team All-Conference and All-State honors while helping the Comets to consecutive 3C2A State Runner-Up finishes in 2018 and 2019. She continued her playing career at the University of the Pacific, appearing in 42 games with 41 starts from 2020-21 and finishing with 12 hits, five runs, one double, one home run and 10 RBIs.

Wachholtz earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Research from the University of the Pacific in 2021, where she was a Dean’s Honor Roll student. She later earned a Master of Business Administration in Business Management and Marketing from Azusa Pacific University in 2025.
