Diana Payan

Diana Payan was named an assistant coach with the UCSD softball program in September of 2015.

Before coming to the La Jolla campus, Payan was the assistant coach for the softball program at Fullerton College from 2013-15. She helped with recruiting, practice plans, development, lineup and many numerous tasks. During the same time she was also an assistant coach at Cerritos High School, responsible for implementing strategies and drills to improve the defense.

From 2010-15, Payan served as the head coach fro the Cal A’s, a college-prep travel softball team, developing her players’ skill to play at the next level.

An accomplished player before becoming a coach, Payan played two seasons at Chico State where she was two-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Second Team honoree and two-time all-region honoree.

Prior to Chico State, Payan was a two-time All-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) First Team and All-California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Section First Team player at Fullerton College.

Payan graduated from Azusa Pacific in July 2015 with a master’s degree in physical education and has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in coaching from Chico State.
