Biography

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2004: Competed in five of the team’s eight races ... finished 36th out of 135 runners at the UC Irvine Invitational with her time of 20:05.0... finished 16nd out of 147 competitors with her time of 23:32, the fastest of any UCSD runner, at the Stegemoller Classic hosted by the University of Southern Indiana... finished 7th out of 61 Division II runners with her time of 24:25.5 at the 6k UCSD Triton Invitational on October 9, helping the squad to a first place finish... crossed the finish line in a time of 21:38.4 at the CCAA Championships, finishing 23rd out of 82 runners... finished 73rd with her time of 24:10.1, helping the Tritons to a 17th place national finish at the NCAA Division II Championships.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2003: During her rookie season at UCSD, Firouz finished in either the No. 1 or No. 2 spot in every race for the Tritons... an All-CCAA First Team performer, she garnered CCAA Freshman of the Year honors after her fourth place finish at the conference championships... her time of 22:02.6 in the 6k league race, set a new personal record for Firouz... she continued her first year success at the NCAA West Regionals where she placed sixth and helped the team qualify for the NCAA Championships in Cary, N.C... her 34th place finish at the NCAA Championships was good enough for a spot on the All-America squad, as she crossed the line in a time of 22:33.6 in the 6k event.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2003 graduate of Benicia High School in Benicia, Calif... ran cross country and track for coach Stan Winkley... was the MEL League Champion... earned team MVP honors in each of her four years at Benicia... set personal bests of 5:20 in the 1600m, 11:32 in the 3200m and 18:47 in the three mile cross country run... was a member of the Gardening Club, Chess Club and Calculus Club... was an Alzheimer Volunteer.

PERSONAL: Born November 3, 1985 in Walnut Creek, Calif... parents are Amir Firouz and Hadieh Elias... both parents went to the University of Texas for their Masters, and the American University of Beirut for their undergraduate degrees... both are Structural Engineers... has one older sister named Riam and one younger brother named Omede... is an International Studies and Political Science double major in Eleanor Roosevelt College... enjoys drawing and playing the piano in her spare time.
