Joining the Triton coaching staff in 2009 is Amy Hassell. Hassell enters her first season as an assistant at UCSD following a very successful athletic career at Utah State.
Hassell was a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track and field for the Aggies, posting school records in the indoor 800m (2:08.2) and outdoor 1500m (4:25.5). She helped guide the women’s cross country team to a Western Athletic Conference Championship in 2006 and was a USU NCAA Woman of the Year nominee as a senior in 2008. She was also named to the WAC Academic All-Conference team five times.
Hassell graduated in the fall of 2008 with a B.A. in English and a minor in physical education and coaching. She received her Utah Educator’s License in 2008 and earned her preliminary California teaching credential earlier this year.
