AS A JUNIOR IN 2005: Hit .309 against right-handed pitching and .375 with runners in scoring position... went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles against Vanguard on Feb. 8.... recorded a pinch-hit double against CSUSB driving in two RBI on April 13... scored the winning run in UCSD’s CCAA Championship clincher against Chico State on May 14.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2004: Made 49 starts and hit .288 in his second season at UCSD... 49 hits was the sixth best total for the 2004 season... second on the team with 11 hit-by-pitches... hit .350 (14-40) versus left-handed pitching.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2003: Started 40 games for the Tritons and had 147 at-bats which ranked as the fifth most on the team... hit .286 with seven doubles and was one of four Tritons to notch at least 10 steals in 2003.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Thousand Oaks HS where he was a member of the baseball team... named team MVP in 2001 and 2002... notched all-league honors in his junior and senior seasons... other school activities included senior class Secretary and Peer Counseling.

PERSONAL: Born May 27, 1984 in Santa Monica, Calif.... parents are Jim and Jennifer Fante... has one brother, Dustin... is a Communications major in Marshall College.
