Mike Oseguera enters his seventh season with the UC San Diego baseball program. He will work with UCSD's hitters and outfielders in 2010, while continuing to help head coach Dan O'Brien run the Tritons Baseball Camps.
Since Oseguera arrived at UCSD, the Tritons have gone 228-126 (.644) and played in six consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association conference tournaments, winning the tournament title twice (in 2005 and 2009). Last year's squad won the CCAA regular season title for the first time in program history and advanced to the Division II College World Series, another program first. In 2009, UCSD finished with an overall record of 41-15, going 19-3 at home, and had a team team batting average of .342.
Oseguera graduated from the University of San Diego in 2003, where he played four seasons as both a pitcher and position player. He led the team in appearances in 2002 and was a member of two West Coast Conference championship teams (2002, 2003). The Toreros advanced to the NCAA Regionals both years.
Oseguera attended La Costa Canyon High School, where he was a teammate of former Triton and current assistant coach Chad Addison. Coach Oseguera has four brothers (David, Robert, Paul, and Daniel) and one sister (Olivia). His younger brother Paul pitches in the San Francisco Giants minor league system.
