Jon Gregory

Jon Gregory joined UC San Diego Athletic Performance in December 2016. He is currently serving as Director of Athlete Performance, where he oversees the performance staff to ensure there is proper integration between disciplines within our holistic high-performance model.

Before entering the field of athletic performance, Gregory served as an Army Ranger in the 2nd Ranger Battalion/75thRegiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. During his enlistment, Gregory completed four combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. As a result of his experience with the rigorous physical demands of Special Operations, Gregory developed a strong interest in the field of human performance.

After completing his military service, Gregory attended Saint Mary’s College where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in kinesiology. During this time, he earned his NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach and USA Weightlifting certifications. Gregory became an integral piece of Saint Mary’s strength and conditioning department, beginning as an intern and eventually as the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
