Bryson LeBlanc enters his fifth season as an assistant coach in the UC San Diego baseball program for the 2023 campaign. He works primarily with the Triton hitters, serves as recruiting coordinator and as the third base coach.

During his coaching career, LeBlanc has mentored six MLB players and 53 scholar-athletes that have been selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft, including 12 players in the top 10 rounds.

LeBlanc has helped guide the Tritons into the Division I era, capped by the program’s first Big West Championship during the 2023 season. In three seasons of D-I competition, the Tritons have garnered 16 All-Big West selections, one All-America honoree and Marc “Bubba” Filia signed a free agent contract in 2022.

LeBlanc also helped UC San Diego find tremendous success in their final two seasons of Division II competition, coaching six all-conference selections and two MLB Draft picks. In 2020, the Tritons were ranked No. 1 in the country before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Shay Whitcomb was selected in the fifth round of the abbreviated five-round MLB Draft. In 2019, LeBlanc helped guide the Tritons to a Division II College World Series appearance where UC San Diego finished fifth in the nation. The Tritons also won the 2019 CCAA regular season conference title—their first since 2011—and Whitcomb was named CCAA Player of the Year, as well as earning All-America and All-Region honors.

Prior to his time in La Jolla, LeBlanc spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Big West member UC Riverside. While with the Highlanders, LeBlanc served as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach and helped 20 players get selected in the MLB Draft, including major-leaguer Mark Contreras. In 2017, the Highlanders’ recruiting class was ranked in the top 35 by Baseball America and 34th in the nation by Collegiate Baseball. UCR had 30 All-Big West selections during his tenure and 38 all-academic honorees.

LeBlanc spent four years a member of the Oregon baseball program, serving as an assistant coach for the 2009 and 2011 seasons and as an administrative assistant for the 2008 and 2010 campaigns. In 2010, Oregon advanced to the Norwich Regional in just the second year of the program’s existence. During his time with the Ducks, LeBlanc coached five players that reached the major leagues including Tyler Anderson, Kyle Garlick, Ryon Healy, Scott McGough and Jimmie Sherfy. Additionally, LeBlanc mentored 22 players selected in the MLB Draft, five All-Americans and 14 all-conference honorees.

From 2009 to 2011, LeBlanc was also the head coach of the Cowlitz Black Bears in the West Coast League where he managed future major leaguers Kyle Garlick and Mitchell Walding.

LeBlanc is a 2006 graduate of Missouri where he earned his degree in biological sciences. He played his final two seasons with the Tigers after transferring from Delgado Community College in New Orleans, La., in 2004. LeBlanc also earned his master’s in physical education, exercise and sports science from Central Missouri in 2009. LeBlanc and his wife, Andria have two young boys, Christian and Camden.
