Brian Hile has had fiscal responsibility for UC San Diego Athletics since February 2002, previously as part of the Vice Chancellor - Student Affairs office and now as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics office. Among his duties are account analysis, audit, banking and cash accounting, purchasing, vendor relations, Express Card Administrator and payroll accounting for career and contract employees. He has cultivated the relationships between Athletics and the central administrative units of Procurement and Contract Administration, Payroll, General Accounting, Central Cashier Office and Accounts Payable/Disbursements. Hile is currently enrolled in a Human Resources A-Z training program offered through the Vice Chancellor Health Sciences to provide comprehensive cross-training in Human Resources.

During 20 years of accounting experience, Hile previously worked for Unocal Corporation at offices in Chicago and then in sunny Southern California. His move to the West Coast occurred in 1993, and he has since enjoyed sporting activities such as running and tennis in mild weather, and downhill skiing in the nearby mountains.

His earned a Master's Degree in Counselor Education from Northern Illinois University and he holds the Certificate in Public Accounting issued by the University of Illinois. He is also a diplomat of the College for Financial Planning and is currently pursuing a certificate in personal fitness training at UCSD.
