The ultimate goal is to ensure the student-athlete leaves college excited about their job at a great company.Athlete NetworkUC San Diego Career CenterNCAA After the GameNCAA Career in Sports ForumNCAA Postgraduate Internship ProgramRising Junior Workshop - The 2nd Capstone event of UC San Diego's Scholar-Athlete Development program, the Rising Junior Workshop was created to help scholar-athletes become aware of the changes to NCAA eligibility for upperclassmen and to encourage them to begin thinking about academically-related opportunities that become more relevant and available in the latter stage of their collegiate career. The workshop is held each spring quarter and is mandatory for sophomore scholar-athletes. During the first half of the workshop, scholar-athletes hear from various speakers presenting information on academic eligibility, internship, research, career development, and academic enrichment opportunities. Speakers are professionals from the athletics department, on campus departments, and external organizations. The second half of the workshop is an information fair that allows scholar-athletes to visit with speakers more in depth about their program services and various opportunities.Student-Athlete Resume Workshop – The 3rd Capstone event of UC San Diego's Scholar-Athlete Development Program, The Resume Workshop is a required event for all juniors moving into their 4th and final year of college. Whether you are looking to go directly into the workforce after graduation, planning for graduate/professional school or looking to get additional job or research experience while still at UC San Diego, your resume is critical. This is the time to look ahead. The Athletics Department in partnership with the Career Center will take scholar-athletes through the process of building a winning resume right in time for the spring job fair. In addition to the basics, the program will highlight how to incorporate your athletics experience into your resume. Quarterly, the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll is selected and names are displayed in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department Office. The honor roll is three tiered according to the following standards: Gold (3.5+), Silver (3.3-3.499), Bronze (3.0-3.299)National Student-Athlete Day – The UC San Diego Athletics Department hosts an annual National Student-Athlete Day reception each April to recognize the scholar-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the playing fields and in their communities. National Student-Athlete Day is part of a nation-wide recognition of student-athletes and was created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and the Northeastern University Center for the Study of Sport in Society, with partnership from the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations.All-Academic Team – The top scholar-athlete on each qualifying team for their performance in the classroom. To qualify for the award, the scholar-athletes must be currently enrolled at UC San Diego and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the current school year’s fall quarter. The sholar-athlete must also have been a member of the team the previous season.4-Year Letter Winners – 4-Year Letter Winners’ commitment to Triton Athletics is recognized by the presentation of plaques to all scholar-athletes who were members of their respective team for all four years of their collegiate career. Awarded at the department’s annual Athletics Recognition Banquet.Team GPA Award – Presented to the team who maintained the highest average GPA for all members of the team during that academic year. Awarded at the department’s annual Athletics Recognition Banquet.Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award – Honor bestowed on the six senior scholar-athletes who have maintained the highest cumulative GPA for their graduating class.Outstanding Seniors – Awarded to one male and one female graduating senior who not only excelled in their sport, but in the classroom and community, as well.Athlete of the Year – The Athletics Department’s highest athletics honors, the Athletes of the Year represent the best of the best in terms of athletics achievement in the given year. The award is often given to National Champions and All-Americans.Leon T. Roach Team Spirit Award – Presented annually to the team that most exemplifies team spirit and support of fellow UC San Diego athletics programs, as well as the department, campus and local communities. Based on, among other things, team attendance and spirit at intercollegiate athletic events and consistent support of Triton Athletes’ Council events and projects.Karen E.
