Biography

AS A JUNIOR IN 2004: Returned to the team after sitting out the previous two seasons... started seven of the 10 games he played between the pipes... allowed only five goals in the 680 minutes of action he saw... his goals-against average of 0.66 was among the league leaders in the CCAA... never allowed more than one goal in any contest... posted two shutouts on the year, the first of which was at home in the team’s 1-0 victory over Chico State on October 15, giving head coach Derek Armstrong career win No. 300... second shutout came in a 1-0 double OT thriller at home against Cal State Bakersfield on October 30... combined on another three shutouts with fellow netminder Scott Mazurier... allowed only one goal while notching 11 saves in over 157 minutes of play against CCAA regular season champion, Cal State Dominguez Hills... posted a career-high 10 saves in the 1-1 double-overtime tie with Cal State Bakersfield on November 5 in the CCAA semifinals (UCSD lost 3-1 on PK’s)... his 33 saves on the season led the team as did his .868 save percentage... recorded a team-high 33 saves on the year... finished season with a 3-1-2 overall record.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2001: Redshirted the season... was a member of the nationally recognized Surfing Club at UCSD.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2001 graduate of Hilo High School... played soccer, football and tennis.

PERSONAL: Born July 4, 1983 in Hanover, N.H... parents are Greg Ruhland and Ellen Roberts... is a Human Biology major in Eleanor Roosevelt College... enjoys badminton and pottery in his spare time.
