COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — UC San Diego men's soccer secured a 1-0 road victory for the second-straight match on Sunday afternoon, this time winning at Air Force. Oren Stuppel got the goal for the Tritons off an assist from Gavin Allegaert and Sean Ueda in the 10th minute.
 
The result saw the Tritons remain a perfect 3-0-0 after the second week of the season. The Falcons fell to 0-1-2.
 
Air Force finished the match with a 12-7 advantage in shots, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. But the Triton defense did enough to preserve the clean sheet, with goalkeeper Nic Thiele recording a season-high six saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stuppel got the Tritons on the board early after a pass from Ueda was flicked ahead by Allegaert to put Stuppel on the ball with space inside the box. He cut to his right to beat the final defender before firing a shot into the right side of the goal.
   
Air Force pressed to try and find an equalizer, taking seven first-half shots while holding the Tritons to three. Thiele made two saves before halftime.
 
The second half was more of the same, with the Falcons increasing the pressure on Thiele as the match progressed. Four of Air Force's five second-half shots were on target, but Thiele was up for the challenge each time. Sean McTague recorded UC San Diego's only second-half shot on goal in the 69th minute.
 
TRITON TIDBITS

• The Triton defense has yet to allow a goal this season, marking the team's longest shutout streak in its Division I era.
• After recording three wins through the first three matches of 2026, the Tritons have already surpassed last year's total of two wins.
• UC San Diego had more yellow cards (three) than fouls committed (two).
• Head coach Jon Pascale made a starting lineup change for the first time this season as freshman Owen Helm made his first collegiate start in place of Nate Morgan.

"Today was an amazing effort from the entire group," Pascale said. "Getting two wins on the road in extremely difficult conditions says a lot about the character of our team. We are looking forward to getting back to San Diego and getting back to work."
 
UP NEXT
UC San Diego will host Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Triton Soccer Stadium. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+, with tickets available through Triton Box Office. That match is also Youth Night, with free trident foam fingers given out to the first 100 kids in attendance.
