SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — UC San Diego baseball fell to UC Santa Barbara, 11-10, in 11 innings on Saturday afternoon in Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. The Tritons (15-15, 11-3 Big West) rallied from a five run deficit to take the lead in the eighth before giving up three runs in the bottom of the ninth to the Gauchos (20-11, 8-5 Big West) to send the game to extra innings. The weekend series is now even 1-1.

Four Tritons turned in multi-hit performances.
Michael Crossland recorded two runs, two hits—both doubles, while
Gabe Camacho tallied two runs, two hits, and drove in one run.
Alex Leopard finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and
Trevian Martinez also went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a walk.
Addison Klepsch hit a grand slam and
Delshaun Lanier added two RBI on a double and drew two walks.

Starter
Trevor Rector pitched 2.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, issuing one walk and striking out three.
Austin Bowker gave up five six runs—five earned—on seven hits in 2.2 innings.
Nathan Ries pitched 2.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits.
Julian Cazares (1-1) was credited with the loss, giving up the game-winner in the 11th after pitching an inning and two thirds in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first two winnings from Rector, UCSB got on the board in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs via a two-out homer to lead, 2-0.Â

The Tritons responded an inning later after a leadoff single by Camacho. With two outs, Martinez doubled down the left field line to score Camacho from second and cut the deficit to one, 2-1. In the bottom of the inning, the Gauchos got the run back with an RBI double to lead, 3-1, after four innings.

UCSB added to its lead in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs on four hits and one error to pull in front, 6-1.Â

UC San Diego rallied in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs to pull within one, 6-5. Crossland got the inning started with a leadoff double down the left field line before Camacho walked to put two on with no outs. Leopard brought in the first run with a single to left and
Nick Costello brought in Camacho with a sac-fly to make it 6-3. Lanier scored two more for the Tritons with a two-out double to left center to cut the deficit to one.

The Gauchos got an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single and threatened for more with two in scoring position and one out. Ries and
Connor Etnire forced back-to-back fly-outs to end the inning and keep the game at 7-5.

UC San Diego rallied once again in the top of the eighth, loading the bases with two outs. Klepsch sent a ball 410 feet over the wall in left center to put the Tritons in front, 9-7, with a grand slam. In the ninth, Camacho followed a leadoff double by Crossland with a double off the wall in right field to extend the advantage, 10-7.

The Gauchos responded in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs on three hits to tie the game 10-10. With the winning run at third base, King sent the game to extra innings with a strike out.Â

The Tritons advanced a runner to second with two outs in the top of the 11th but were unable to bring in a run. UCSB singled up the middle with two outs in the bottom of the inning to score the winning run from second.
