LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) and the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) have released the All-MPSF and All-Region selections for the 2025-26 fencing season. UC San Diego had 13 fencers earn a place on at least one of the two lists, with 10 being named both All-MPSF and All-Region.
Â
The Tritons totaled eight First Team and four Second Team All-MPSF honors. On the All-Region Teams, UC San Diego placed three on the First Team and four on the Second Team, with four more earning Honorable Mention selections.
Â
Freshman
Nurzhan Abzhanov was the only Triton to earn First Team awards at both the conference and regional level. The epeeist was one of eight UC San Diego underclassmen honored.
Â
The Tritons saw five upperclassmen selected, including three seniors in
Zara Fearns,

Sunny Sharma. Fearns has now been First Team All-MPSF in three-straight seasons as part of her stretch of winning three-consecutive individual women's saber titles, a new conference record. Sharma has three-straight First Team All-Region selections.
Â
Both lists were based on the final standings of last weekend's NCAA West Regional Championship and MPSF Championship.
Â
The Tritons will now turn their attention to the National Collegiate Fencing Championships, which will be Mar. 19-22 in South Bend, Indiana. They will have four fencers in action. Abzhanov and Sharma will be joined by sophomore
